Tropical Ketapang - sea almond leaves (Terminalia catappa) - is a natural, multi-purpose agent for improving the quality of aquarium water. It helps create optimal living conditions for fish by adding natural tannins and humic acids and slightly lowering pH level to make water biotope-correct for fish from softwater, acidic habitats. Note that sea almond leaves do not destroy essential and useful filtration bacteria the way medical preparations do. Prophylactic properties of sea almond leaves have been recognized for centuries and in many parts of the world widely used in natural medicine. They facilitate the treatment of asthma, cold, sore eyes, rheumatisms, all types of skin cuts, bleeding gums and intestinal parasites. Asian ornamental fish breeders use sea almond leaves to protect the eggs, applying Ketapang directly to the breeding tank or the filter. Such a procedure significantly improves the reproduction and survival rates. In aquaria with Ketapang leaves fish suffer from skin problems only sporadically. They are also rarely observed scratching against various objects in the tank. Their resistance to diseases is also improved.
Tropical Ketapang accelerates the regeneration of epidermis, mucus coating and fins, therefore it is recommended after water changes, transportation and during acclimatization of fish to new conditions - the times when they are particularly susceptible to skin abrasions and cuts.
Application of Tropical Ketapang:
Use one sachet per 150-200 litres of water. For larger tanks adjust the number of sachets accordingly. Change sachet/sachets after two weeks. Due to their chemical structure, sea almond leaves may initially cause cloudiness of water, which usually disappears in three days. -
