Discusfood Best Heart Flakes is a staple food flake with a well-balanced composition. Primarily adjusted to discus fish, this food is also excellent for all other flake-eating ornamental fish, not least because of its high-quality ingredients.

The most outstanding feature in the composition is the cattle protein. From the point of view of naturalness, discus fish do not eat cows. However the attention is to be put here naturally on it its protégés a protein source which can be used well to ready, in order not to expose them evenly to the pressure of the natural selection, but to supply the animals on the part of the feed in the best possible way.

Raw cattle heart as it is processed for example in frost fodder, contains collagens, which the Discus cannot split because of missing enzymes. These indigestible bovine proteins can accumulate in layers on the intestinal wall and thus enable a strong multiplication of parasites such as flagellates. Fish fed with a raw bovine heart for a longer period of time can therefore appear weakened and emaciated and in the further course even develop the so-called hole disease. In order to prevent this problem Discusfood only processes the easily digestible bovine proteins in the Best Heart flake, all harmful substances have been removed. The additional enrichment with all important vitamins, minerals and dietary fibres results in an all-round balanced staple food for the optimal promotion of growth and health of your ornamental fish.

Another advantage of Best Heart Flocke compared to frozen cattle hearts is its “bite firmness”. It does not decompose when fed, nor does it cloud the water, although it contains only a small amount of binder and no gelatine. This contributes significantly to the relief of the aquarium filter, water changes can be reduced and no odour nuisance protein compounds are formed. In addition, the flake offers in direct comparison a much higher nutritional value than the frozen cattle heart, is not subject to any cold chain, is much better to dose and space-saving to store.
