The seal of the shaft duct is one of the most critical parts of rotary pumps. Most pump malfunctions are caused by poor seals and bearings. The ATK Magnetic Rotary Pump is permanently magnetically driven by means of a synchronic clutch. A permanently magnetic external rotor, powered by a normal electric motor, efficiently transmits rotational momentum to a permanently magnetic internal rotor. Between the external and internal rotor there is a split plate or split head, which seals the product flushed interior from the atmosphere. The internal rotor and runner blades share here a common shaft. Rotary pumps with magnetic drive have the advantage over split pipe motor pumps that they are not dependant on cooling by means of the feed medium and thus do not heat up. Since the split plate or split head in ATK Magnetic Rotary Pumps is made of plastic, in contrast to split pipe motor pumps, corrosion is ruled out. The permanent magnets consist of sintered material and need no additional corrosion protection due to their high corrosion resistance.
