Choose a universal aquarium pump by flow, head height and connection
Universal aquarium pumps move water in filters, sumps, cooling systems, fountains and other circulation applications. Models differ in flow rate, maximum head height, power consumption, connections and suitability for submerged or external installation. The correct pump depends on the complete hydraulic system rather than aquarium volume alone.
Actual flow decreases as delivery height, hose length, bends, valves and narrow fittings add resistance. Compare the required flow at the intended head height, not only the maximum flow stated at zero head. Check inlet and outlet sizes, permitted installation method, freshwater or marine suitability and whether flow can be adjusted.
Product pages list dimensions, electrical data, supplied fittings and operating restrictions. Ensure that the pump can be accessed for cleaning and that compatible spare impellers or other wear parts are available.
